Wow so that was 2023!

This year ( like all of them it seems!) seems to have gone so quickly.

Here at OSBD it has been a year of firsts.

Launching a film fund for emerging filmmakers which has been amazing. We have been able to support 6 brilliant young filmmakers to make their films and also offer mentoring and support.
We weren’t able to secure funding to continue it into 2024 but are looking for other ways to continue to offer this kind of support in the future.

We have also run for the first time a 2 day film challenge for young people in Exmouth Devon.
An intensive series of workshops to create a brand new idea for a short film .Plan it and shoot and edit it all within the 2 days! It was intense but great fun and we will be sharing the films in the new year.

We also were the lead partner in bringing a film festival to Exmouth for the first time. It was a real joy and brilliant to see so many people turn out to screenings across multiple venues in the town.

Plans are afoot for 2024 already.

Across the year we did what we also do, which is find ways to help and support many young people as they make their journey into filmmaking and media. Often one to one , informal connections but also doing talks and workshops.  We also have found ourselves collaborating with other organisations and being part of the wider conversation about film and media here in the south west where we are now based.

Onto 2024!
