OSBD Documentry Film Fund

The OSBD documentary film fund is for emerging young filmmakers aged 18-30 and based in the UK. The purpose of the awards will be to help each awardee create or complete a short form documentary film up to 20 mins duration and offer support with professional development. Alongside the grant will be a comprehensive online mentoring programme culminating in a one-day workshop in Birmingham UK.

The fund is for individuals. 6 equal awards of £1,500 will be made.

The fund is open to anyone, and we are committed to ensuring that disability, background, and identity should not be a barrier. If you need some support in the process and have any questions, please email us at info@osbd.org.

  • A minimum of £1,000 must be spent on the film to be created / completed and up to a max of £500 can be spent on something that helps the awardee personally such as training or a piece of equipment that enhances your ability to develop in filmmaking.
  • The award does not need to be repaid but will be paid out in stages.
  • Films should be completed and submitted by August 31st, 2023.
  • The mentoring programme and 1 day workshop will run between February and July 2023. Details are in the guidelines.

Applications are now open and will close on January 20th 2023 at noon.

The 6 successful awardees will be notified by February 3rd, 2023, via email.

The OSBD FILM FUND has been made possible from a generous individual donation and further funding from Paddle.com, an international tech company interested in developing film talent. The fund is also being supported by OSBD partner Creative Alliance.
