Coat of Hopes ( COH) is a travelling, community created, work of performance craft.
A patchwork garment made of embroidered pieces of blanket, created by a diverse range of people along a 500 mile walk. Carrying stitched griefs, remembrances, prayers and hopes connected to their local landscapes and stories of migration, to the gathering of world decision makers at COP26 in Glasgow.
OSBD is acting as a media partner to COH to help gather footage and create films that will hopefully amplify the stories, people and places along the way. From patch makers and stitching gatherings, pilgrims and coat wearers, old and young, we want to discover the longings, hopes, prayers of diverse voices across the length of the UK. COH for OSBD is part of a wider film project called Planet Hope.
We will be creating a short film each week of the walk which will be published to the COH YouTube channel and onto its website as well as sharing other short media assets via the COH social media pages. This will be a collaborative effort and the whole ethos of creation will be immersive and imaginative and purposeful in its impact both on contributor, artist and those who will watch and share. Longer term we are open that what might emerge could be a longer form film, perhaps a feature documentary.
We are building a team of both experienced and emerging young filmmakers to help do this. At this point everyone is offering their time for free but we hope to raise some funds to help cover expenses and hopefully a small fee. We also need others who would be willing, (via their smartphone or other camera devices), to help gather meaningful video footage either along the walk or as patches are created. We can offer help and training to those who are willing to offer their support in this way.

COH is an amazing project that is part of the wider camino pilgrimage to COP26 and more importantly part of a growing global movement alert and active to the current and looming climate crisis and seeking a positive and hopeful way forward.
