Young People and filmmaking:

Young people and filmmaking is something that you have heard more and more over the past few years and it is something you are going to keep on hearing. Young people are really starting to make there mark in the film industry and taking advantage of the opportunities placed in front of them and showing the professionals of our day and age that they know what they are talking about and can offer something new and fresh.

“Perhaps it sounds ridiculous, but the best thing that young filmmakers should do is to get hold of a camera and some film and make a movie of any kind at all. “

Stanley Kubrick

It’s nice to see that film organisations such as BFI, BBC , Into Film and many more are seeing the potential that young people can offer and they have regular opportunities open to them such as apprenticeships and courses that they can participate in both free and ones you have to pay for. So in terms of young people and filmmaking I am confident that we will see more and more names emerging and making themselves known in the coming year.

Here at OSBD we are moving ahead with plans for the virtual film school and other training, developing and mentoring opportunities for young people. Lots more to come soon.
